Stephane Veilleux
Stephane Veilleux was born on November 16, 1981 in Beauceville, Quebec, Canada. He began playing hockey as a five-year-old and he lists his parents as the people that influenced his hockey career the most. His favorite team growing up was the old Quebec Nordiques and his favorite players were Wayne Gretzky and Jeremy Roenick. His first job as a kid was being a lumberjack. Along with hockey, Stephane Veilleux played tennis in his youth. As an amateur, Stephane Veilleux played in the QMJHL for Victoriaville and Val-D’or. He was noticed by the Minnesota Wild after his 2000-01 season with Val-D’or in which the left winger broke out with 115 points in 68 games. The Wild took him in the third round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. Stephane Veilleux spent some time in Houston before becoming a full-time player for the Minnesota Wild in the 2005-06 season. That year he played in 71 games posted 16 points and 63 penalties in minutes. The 2006-07 season with the Wild was a positive one for Veilleux, as he raised his plus/minus rating to +3, up from -13 in his previous year. In his NHL career, Veilleux has played in 203 total games and has scored 49 points on 30 assists and 19 goals to go along with 153 penalties in minutes. In the offseason, Veilleux resides in St. Georges de Beauce, Quebec. “Red Hair” likes to play tennis during his time off. His favorite road arena is the Edmonton Oilers’ and his favorite road city to visit is Denver.
